Stalford Academy’s “Preparatory Course for Cambridge International Advanced Level Examination (12 Months)” aims to thoroughly prepare private candidates for the Cambridge International Advanced Level Examination, which is an internationally recognised qualification offered by Cambridge Assessment International Examination. Cambridge Assessment International Education is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5 to 19 year olds. It is a part of the University of Cambridge and is a not-for-profit organisation that devotes resources to delivering high-quality educational programmes that can unlock learners’ potential. Our 12-month preparatory programme is a fast-pace intensive programme that aims to prepare the student for the Cambridge International Advanced Level Examination in one year. Students will be equipped with the concrete knowledge and necessary intellectual skills in tackling the examinations. Students may also choose to take the exam at the Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary Level first before taking at the Cambridge International Advanced Level. Mode of Assessment

1. Internal Assessment – all internal assessments will be in the form of written papers
For the 12-month programme, 4 Examinations will be conducted.

2. External Assessment – Cambridge International A Level Examination
a. Cambridge International AS & A Level Examination is conducted twice a year, in June and November.
b. Exam registration schedule for private candidates is in early January (for Jun exam) and early July (for Nov exam).
c. Some subjects may be available only once a year, e.g. Chinese and Chinese Language.
d. Students will sit for a preliminary examination at Stalford Academy in preparation for the actual A Level examinations.

Requirements for Completion of Course

1. Local Students (Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents) and LTVP and DP holders must achieve at least 75% attendance and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without valid reasons.
2. International Students (Student’s Pass holders) must achieve at least 90% attendance and not be absent for more than 7 consecutive days without valid reasons.

Preparatory Course for TOEFL

3-Month (12-Week) Programme

The complete course consists of 4 modules which cover the basic aspects of the language, targeting at each individual section of the TOEFL paper; namely reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Students will attend a series of lectures where the teacher (who is a native English speaker) will go through the 4 modules.

We have a custom-designed curriculum based on analysis of papers from the past years to familiarise the students with different types of passages which have a high chance of appearing in the exam.

The General English course is designed to accommodate students who wish to learn, or better their mastery of the English language, highly salient in a predominantly English speaking country like Singapore. The course caters to the learning needs of different students possessing varying standards of the English language as it comprises of 3 tiers ranging from elementary to advanced, with each tier being further divided into 2 levels. Students enjoy the flexibility of choice to select and join the course at their desired and appropriate entry level.

At the elementary levels, Stalford Academy’s General English course will cover the fundamentals of General English language which include basic conversational skills and expressions as well as the reading and writing of simple vocabulary and phrases. Upon completion, students can choose to further hone their grasp of the language at the intermediate tier which aims to take the mastery of the language to a different level by imparting the language to students at a more advanced stage. At this tier, students can expect to build their vocabulary bank gradually, and take small steps to increase their language skills from simple exercises such as basic sentence construction. The teacher to student ratio is less than 1:25, subject to room capacity. All of our teachers are dedicated and experienced, possessing at least GCE A-Level Certificate and are registered with the Committee for Private Education, Singapore. The Committee for Private Education (CPE) is part of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

Stalford Academy’s ‘O’ Levels preparatory course aims to thoroughly prepare private candidates for the GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations, which are national level assessments jointly organized and conducted by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicates.

In this preparatory program which content is aligned closely to the latest examination guidelines, students will be equipped with the concrete knowledge and necessary intellectual skills in tackling the examinations. If you are keen on achieving a robust foundation that will pave your smooth progress into post-secondary institutions, be sure that this is the right preparatory program for you.

Students who manage to attain outstanding results in the ‘O’ level examination could receive grants of up to 70% of polytechnic fees, on the condition they work for three years with any enterprise in Singapore. In addition, students will also be allowed to apply for permanent residency in Singapore.
